# Filled Measurement Style Card

All values are original fictional teaching inputs. They are not empirical measurements, safety limits or results from a physical craft project. This card checks notation and quantity labels; it does not verify a measurement's accuracy.

## Completed repairs

| Quantity | Supplied value and unit | Original wording | Repaired wording | Input status | Notation source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Length | 12 cm | 12 cms | 12 cm | Original fictional input; value unchanged | NIST SI writing guidance: symbols do not take plural letters |
| Mass | 2 kg | 2 kgs | 2 kg | Original fictional input; value unchanged | NIST SI writing guidance: symbols do not take plural letters |
| Ambient temperature | 18 °C | 18°C | 18 °C | Original fictional input; value unchanged | NIST SI writing guidance and SP 811 section 7.2: space before the complete Celsius symbol |
| Shelf width and height | width 25 cm; height 15 cm | 25 x 15 cm | 25 cm × 15 cm (width × height) | Original fictional input supplies both units and dimension order | NIST SP 811 section 7.7: associate each value clearly with its unit |

Complete shelf sentence: The imaginary shelf is 25 cm wide and 15 cm high.

Value-retention check: length 12; mass 2; ambient temperature 18; width 25; height 15. No numeric value or quantity has been changed or converted.

Temperature note: keep °C together and put the space before that complete symbol. NIST's no-space exception for °, ′ and ″ concerns plane angle, not Celsius temperature.

## Sources and limits

- NIST SI writing guidance, retained primary snapshot checked on 8 October 2026: https://www.nist.gov/pml/owm/writing-si-metric-system-units
- NIST SP 811 quantity-value notation guidance, sections 7.2 and 7.7, retained primary snapshot checked on 8 October 2026: https://www.nist.gov/pml/special-publication-811/nist-guide-si-chapter-7-rules-and-style-conventions-expressing-values

The source principles are paraphrased. SP 811 is an older writing-convention reference here, not a source of current SI definitions. No publisher worksheet or proprietary template was copied.

## Reuse for your own example

| Quantity | Supplied value | Supplied unit | Source and checked date | Original wording | Proposed repair | What changed or remains unknown |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Name the quantity | Preserve the supplied value | Preserve the supplied unit | Identify actual evidence | Copy your own affected wording | Repair notation once the evidence is clear | Record the exact change or unresolved information |

Check the underlying source before adding a unit or dimension label. Leave missing units, order or quantities unknown rather than infer them from the appearance of a number.
