# Filled chart-choice card

All datasets below are original invented teaching inputs. No real blog-resource count, temperature observation, analytics result or reader test is reported.

## Completed choice: compare resource types

- Teaching publisher: Studio Notes (fictional).
- Reader question: Which resource type has the most files?
- Data meaning: category counts, in files.
- Complete data: Workbooks12; Checklists7; Logs4.
- Chosen chart: horizontal bar chart.
- Ordering: descending file count, Workbooks then Checklists then Logs; no inherent time sequence.
- Value-axis baseline:0; displayed range0 to14 files.
- Reason: compare the sizes of three categories using a common starting point.
- Alternative: a visible table when readers mainly need exact lookup.
- Missing values: none supplied; unknown counts would remain unknown rather than becoming zero.
- Limit: this fictional list says nothing about popularity, traffic or publishing performance.
- Finished comparison:12 minus7 equals5 files more for Workbooks than Checklists.

## Completed choice: follow six hourly values

- Teaching situation: one imaginary day; no real weather observation.
- Reader question: How does the temperature value change across the supplied times?
- Data meaning: point-in-time temperatures in degrees Celsius, one hour apart.
- Complete data:10:00=19°C;11:00=20°C;12:00=22°C;13:00=21°C;14:00=23°C;15:00=22°C.
- Chosen chart: one line with six markers.
- Ordering: chronological, never sorted by temperature.
- Value-axis baseline:0°C; displayed range0 to26°C, a declared choice for this figure.
- Reason: show the ordered rise, dip, renewed rise and final decline.
- Alternative: columns for interval totals, a few time points, or another comparison that does not need a time trend.
- Missing values: none supplied; leave a gap for an unknown otherwise regular reading.
- Limit: joined segments do not establish intermediate readings, causes or predictions.
- Finished comparison: final22°C minus first19°C equals3°C; maximum23°C is at14:00.

## Reusable entry

Copy this section and replace every bracketed prompt before drawing your chart.

- Reader question: [one comparison or trend the reader needs].
- Data file and version: [exact local file used].
- Value meaning and unit: [category count, point-in-time value or interval total, plus unit].
- Categories or time positions: [complete labels in the intended order].
- Chosen chart and reason: [form that represents that relationship].
- Ordering and spacing: [declared category rule or actual time positions].
- Baseline and scale: [actual displayed limits and reason].
- Missing values: [where unknown values occur and how they stay unknown].
- Alternative: [what would make a different chart or table more useful].
- Complete visible values: [where the article shows all data in text].
- Final check: [confirm each plotted mark against the final file].
- Limits: [what the source supports; no invented observations or outcomes].
